Sofia, Bourgas Leverage Tech Innovations for Eurovision 2027 Host Bid

Sofia and Bourgas have emerged as the top contenders to host the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, as Bulgaria narrows down its choices after assessing the technical and infrastructure capabilities of potential venues. This decision comes after the elimination of Varna and Plovdiv from the initial evaluation process.

Bulgaria secured the opportunity to organize the 2027 event following its victory in the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest. Officials are set to announce the final host city by July 31, marking a significant milestone in the country’s preparations for the celebrated international music competition.

Efforts to get ready for the event are already in motion. Plans are in place to appoint key production officials by the end of August, finalize the chosen venue in September, and commence ticket sales at the beginning of 2027. Organizers are also focusing on developing a creative concept for the event, securing agreements with local hotels, and completing necessary infrastructure planning ahead of the event scheduled for May next year.

Hosting the Eurovision Song Contest is anticipated to bring considerable cultural, tourism, and economic advantages to the city that is ultimately selected. As preparations continue, Bulgaria aims to deliver a memorable event that will attract visitors and participants from across the continent.
